Caesar Creek Lake: Crappies are being caught at depths around 18 feet in the channel leading up to Walker Island. Look for deep structure and jig with bass minnows or crappie minnows. For saugeyes, fish the flats near the island by drifting with a crawler harness. Keep the bait bouncing along the bottom. Bluegills have been hitting around wood at the mouths of coves on waxworms and redworms. The best musky fishing has been late in the morning. Try casting large bucktail spinners, jerkbaits or crankbaits around standing or fallen timber in coves or along main lake shorelines.
Lake Loramie: Cold weather has helped the saugeye bite. Anglers line up in the morning to fish for saugeyes from shore around the Luthman Road Bridge. Use Vib-E's on overcast days and minnows when the sun is out. For crappies and bluegills, fish around the lily pads and in the brush along the shore. For crappies, use minnows or jigs and for bluegills try waxworms or spikes.
Indian Lake: Cold, windy weather and lower water levels have curtailed fishing during the past week. A few anglers are catching saugeyes around Dream Bridge, off of the south bank and off of Moundwood. Crappies are still hitting minnows around lily pads in the old game reserve. One angler recently caught a bucket of perch off of Pew Island.
C.J. Brown Reservoir: The few anglers who have ventured out on the lake recently have caught crappies around the marina, mostly with minnows. Bluegills have been hitting waxworms near shore and around the artificial structure near the ramp. For walleyes, try jigging with nightcrawlers or large minnows over the humps and old road bed.
Grand Lake St. Marys: Windy and cold conditions have kept most anglers off the lake. A few crappies have been caught around brush in the shelter of the channels on the south side. Minnows and black/chartreuse jigs have worked best. Bluegills are still hitting waxworms around docks.
Rocky Fork Lake: Fishing has slowed considerably over the past week. A few crappies have been caught off of the docks around the old restaurant. Most are 16-18 feet deep, hitting on minnows. Crappie fishing on the south side of the lake has been good around wood at 12-14 feet. A few saugeyes have been caught by vertically jigging bass minnows around the island. Some perch have hit minnows in the same area. For largemouth bass, work the wood with black/blue jigs.
Paint Creek Lake: Crappies have been hitting minnows and black/chartreuse jigs at about 8 feet deep. The best spot has been around the campground. A few white bass have been caught with minnows or Roostertails off of the beach area. Due to low water, the ramp off of U.S. 50 is the only one in use. Fishing is poor in the spillway.
Lake Erie: Few anglers have ventured out on the lake in recent days during cold, windy conditions. A small number are fishing off of the piers for walleye and perch with a few fish caught by casting shallow-diving stickbaits. The best walleye fishing has been Vermilion to Cedar Point in 30-42 feet of water by trolling crankbaits.
