Sandusky River White Bass Run

This warm weather has pulled up a few white bass into the river. Mostly small jacks but a nice female or tw are around. We got down around 2 and got to about middle of the state street and RR bridge when we started the official SPRING 2008 WHITE BASS RUN it wasnt much but we ended up with about 30 b/t the 3 of us. Kept 10 for eating. Some more warmth should bring up even more-Reports to come! Pics

I have actually forgot about posting these reports daily I was down at the river Sunday Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, then skipped Thursday and hit it Friday Saturday and Today! The river is under a one hook rule till May first So anyways here we go- (fph)-Fish Per Hour
Sunday-Report above
Monday-Fishing slowed down to about 20 fph-Same area
Tuesday-Fishing slowed more 15 fph-Same area
Wednesday-Waded Fishing was about the same 15 fph- Near RR bridge rapids
Friday-Fishing picked up dramatically 50fph a new run had come up fri morning and they were thick throughout the river.
Saturday-Fishing was slower around the normal spots. At dusk tried the S.S. bridge area and was hitting them on every cast-If you new where and what to do 25-30fph
Sunday-Fishing again dropped a slow 5fph Fishing Pressure was very high

It was a decent week for the WB kept some to eat. The water temp is increasing but the level is lowering which makes an ok balance. We need some rain and warm weather to get the run in full swing. Hopes are high this year for the WB lots of males so I'll keep you updated with the reports- BTW the largies and Smallies are hitting in Fremont too! I've hooked a few! pics

Today rainy and nasty-
Monday-Fishing slowed again fished wrong areas but got 5 WB and some smallies and LM also grotz guide caught a channel cat 15 fph

Fished River Today-
Took the boat fished in b/t bridges for some time
Found some holes with anywhere form 5-10 fish caught within the areas...
Headed downstream pretty far found some staging WB jumpin everywhere!!!!! Had no minnows but the guys that were there had about 1-2 fish a minute!!!! This warm weather for thurs and fri should pull up another run

Fremont (shore) 5fph
(boat) 15 fph

Downstream (if you could find them+minnows) 50 fph

Today 4/30
Last day of 1 hook rule
(BTW too many people were using 2 or more the game warden needed to get some of them!)
Went back to the "honey hole" we found yesterday and picked up one female WB! A chunker the first female I've seen caught this season! Only one WB there.... Moved to fremont saw quite a frew jumping but only picked up 10-15 again from the boat.

While fishing the Sandusky river yesterday I saved this seagull...
Saw him on the shore after picking up a lost bobber-Thought something was up so went over cut the line and away he went. Probably the last time that will happen


Also caught some whitebass-first females of the season-

I was actually thinking of hitting the humps at CJ Brown tomorrow and trying to get some inland eye's. We'll see what the weather does

Hey I was at cj yesterday and there wernt many WB caught...
Might be able to pull a fish or 2 trolling some BB's...

Today water was very muddy and pretty high.
Not many WB being caught
Lots of carp in the river

3/7/08
About normal water level but very muddy. 2in visibility.
Fished in b/t 2 bridges fish were everywhere!
Snagged a bunch of carp buffalo and shad
Prolly 50 of all of the above
Then caught about 50 a piece WB
and snagged some more and some white perch
35-40fph
If the rain holds off should get some great fishing coming up!!!!!
Kept 12 for eating

Visibilites 2-4in.
Many fish caught everywhere!!!!
We fished b/t bridges and caught fish everywhere!!!
Lots of fish btw!!! Snagged alot of fish 2 mostly shad buffalo even white perch and some WB.
Every person was carrying out a stringer-
We kept ours and they were donated to a church in Cleveland "Free the homeless"
Also kept 12 for eating
60 fph for us 20 fph for everybody!!!!!
Got our first doubles of the year also

that is some kewl fish so we should go mon.
