i like to use magic bait liver and chesse on a 3/0 spring hook to keep the bait on and a split shot with or without a large bobber or i use the oldest trick in the book like worms. I use a medium action 6 foot spinning rod lined with mono 15 pound test. for baitcasting rod i use a 5 foot 6 inch speed stick with high sensitivy for the sneaky catfish or bottom fishing.

Reaction Strike

We often get a misconception that working our baits slow in cold water is our best chance to catch fish. This can be true on some occasions. However, don't ever rule out the reaction strike of a fast moving bait. These two bass below were caught by my partner and I a couple weeks ago in 39 degree water on lipless crankbaits.

Just thought I would throw that tip out in-case someone is having a hard time getting bites in the Spring.

Jonny,

Thought I would check with you and other members. I useto fish for White Bass in the 60's in Fremont and at that time the river ran in different direction than now,, flood control project changed alot of it.

At those times we use to cast doll flies , white or yellow to haul them in.

I was thinking of giving the White Bass a try this year and wondered now what is the most used lures and colors for the white Bass run.

Since there are restrictions on lures durning the walleye time ...

Whitebass Contest

I was thinking about starting a small white bass tourney for May 1st thru June first. This would have a small entry fee for a weekly contest winner. Then at the end of the month there would be a grand prize winner. To enter your fish (anywhere in Ohio (caught)) you would take a pic of your fish by a tape measure and then I would have a small patch to also be put in the pic to signify it was recently caught. If anyone is interested has comments or would just like to vote. PLEASE DO THANKS

now I know this may look like I should have my a$$ kicked up to between my ears for those who think this is "over harvest", but I assure you the Game Warden himself tells all fishermen when down there to throw the WB away, take them home, ...

I've tried jigging spoons with minnows a plain minnow ice jigs and a waxie-EVERTHING. Next I'll try some jiggin raps or someting that gives off movement because this isn't working.
